Scuba Regulators

Scuba diving would not be possible without the use of scuba regulators. These devices are what allow the diver to breathe the highly compressed air within the oxygen tanks. They convert the high-pressure air into a low-pressure supply which can be breathed in without damaging the lungs.

Scuba regulators were first invented by Jacques Cousteau in 1942. In 1943, his “Aqua Lung” system incorporated this regulator and became the basis for most modern scuba systems. This early system allowed divers to spend long periods of time underwater without the need to be connected to an air hose.

Scuba regulators can vary somewhat in price, depending on the particulars of their design. In most cases, a quality regulator will cost between 100-200 dollars. There are more advanced regulators, however, that can be quite a bit more expensive.
