Scuba Mask

The scuba mask is your window to the underwater world. Because there are so many masks currently on the market, it is important to try on several before settling on any one model. This will help not only find one that fits you properly, but also one that fits within your budget.

There are two main scuba mask designs currently available to consumers; three-pane and four pane varieties. The three-pane models have a single forward viewing glass, and an additional window on each side. Four-pane models look more like large goggles, with the front window being split down the middle.

It is important to find a scuba mask that forms a tight seal around the face of the diver. This is of vital importance because if water begins to leak in it can cause numerous problems, not the least of which is vision. The easiest way to check the seal is to place the mask over your face (without the strap around your head) and take a quick breath through the nose. The mask should stay in place without the need for the head strap.
